white wedding
Yes, yes, I'm a slacker, I know. I haven't posted anything about the shower, bachelorettes or wedding. So I guess this is it.

Let's see...a bridal shower was held for me a few weeks before the wedding. It was a surprise. Josh told me we were driving out to Lumby for some made up reason and we got there and there was a big sign that said "Congratulations Jess" in hot pink spray paint on the front of the house. So it was cool. We played silly games and ate food. It was cool to see everyone pre-wedding like that. That was on a Sunday.

On the Friday of the same weekend, the Kamloops ladies took me out for a bachelorette. I was "kidnapped" by Tara after work and we proceeded to Hoodoos for a nice dinner with Lisa, Jenny and Meghan. It was...interesting. Our dinner conversation is not the norm apparently. From there we took off to Central for the bachelorette version of rock trivia. Between getting my shirt signed (and being hit on by one of the signers...what part of 'bride to be' are you not able to read there?), drinking Smirnoff ice out of a giant red plastic penis, wearing a tiara with tiny silver penises (penii?) and a toilet paper veil, it was an interesting night. All I know was I was rather drunk by the end...I think some tequila was mixed in there somewhere, courtesy of Lorne, and a blowjob shot courtesy of Kyle and friend...it was a fabulous time even though I kept complaining the girls were being mean with their task list...by the end it just no longer mattered.

The second bachelorette was, I believe, the next Friday, with a bunch of the old gang in Kelowna. Dinner at Boston Pizza wearing yet another penis tiara was interesting...the male waiter and I had a bit of a hard time looking each other in the eye. I was decked out in some other interesting bachelorette couture and taken to Flashbacks from there. I had always wanted to go to Flashbacks and it was a cool bar, but they played crappy music, whereas they used to play rock. There are some interesting pictures on the dancefloor there, I am quite sure.

So that was all the pre-wedding hoopla.

Now, the wedding. Friday was spent picking up last minute food, etc with my mom, then meeting everyone at the hall to decorate and have a rehearsal and dinner. That was an exhausting day. I recall one moment of escape, sitting in the sandbox filling the paper-bag lights with sand. It was crazy. My Auntie Val had come up and was there hanging out with everyone, which was really cool as I haven't seen her for ages and she is the self-proclaimed 'favourite aunt' even though we are no blood relation at all.

Then came the big day. Up early to have hair done, met the girls at the hair place. The hair was fabulous, Amanda did an amazing job. Then it was back to my mom's for makeup and a bite to eat. I think we all managed to eat something. And of course we drank champagne and orange juice. Everyone finished getting ready, the photographer arrived and it was a whirlwind from then on. He took photos of us finishing up, getting in the car to the tune of 'White Wedding' while all of the neighbours watched. We took a cruise through town, but not many people were out and about, then headed out to the hall. A white car was just in front of us, and I saw a young lady looking at a piece of paper. It was Sarah! We passed her and she knew exactly where to turn when she figured out who was in front of her. We arrived at the hall, had the ceremony outside, it was hot--super, amazingly July-like hot. There were some funny moments during the ceremony which Josh and I both got a kick out of. Then it was done! Josh and I were married. From there it was a few hours of picture taking, then dinner, speeches, cake (the almighty Led Zeppelin cake!), dancing and talking to people.

My brother got amazingly drunk, Moore's told Josh that Evan's suit was the dirtiest one they'd ever had returned. There were some other pretty drunk people there too. Between Evan the drunk groomsmen, Jeeps, photos, Brian's 'Save a Horse' experience and the million other things I haven't mentioned, it was a pretty good time.

I may elaborate in future posts, but I make no guarantees. I think it'll be more likely that I post a picture or two. I just figured I should summarize the event for all who don't know about it, since it has been just over a month now. I've been working full-time for the past three weeks, and have been fairly busy. Hopefully I will start posting again more regularly now that the grand summary is finished.
